Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 leaks point to a lighter foldable with a bigger battery and a squarer inner display, while keeping the company’s familiar dual-camera formula. Fresh reports suggest the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could weigh 201 grams and pack a 4,800 mAh battery.
According to Ice Universe, the phone may arrive as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 – or, in another naming variation, Z Fold 8 Wide – and it will reportedly weigh 201 grams. That is down from the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s 215 grams, even as the unfolded thickness is said to be 4.5 mm. In other words: thinner in the hand, lighter in the pocket, and presumably less of a brick than Samsung’s last round of folding hardware.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 display and battery leaks
The leak also points to a 5.4-inch cover screen and a 7.8-inch main display with a 4:3 aspect ratio. That inner panel format suggests Samsung is still chasing a more tablet-like layout for productivity and media, while keeping the outer screen usable enough for quick replies instead of tiny-fingered punishment.
Battery capacity is reportedly set at 4,800 mAh, up from 4,400 mAh in the Galaxy Z Fold 7, with 45 W charging. That kind of bump matters more on a foldable than on a slab phone, because two displays and a slimmer chassis tend to make battery life the first thing people complain about once the novelty wears off.
A less visible crease and a familiar camera setup
Ice Universe says the screen crease should be less noticeable, roughly on par with the Oppo Find N6. That is the sort of claim foldable fans have been hearing for years, but Samsung has been under real pressure here: rivals have kept chipping away at the hinge-and-crease problem, and a cleaner panel would do more for the Fold line than another round of marketing gloss.
Camera-wise, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is said to use a dual setup with a 50-megapixel main sensor and an ultra-wide lens. The leak also mentions a 24-megapixel shooting mode that will not require extra software, which sounds like one of those sensible additions that should have existed already.
Ice Universe’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 leak
Ice Universe has a decent track record on Samsung hardware, and the source’s history gives this rumor more weight than the average social-media whisper. The broader pattern is clear enough: foldables are maturing, and the real battle is no longer just about having a flexible screen. It is about shaving weight, improving battery life, and making the crease embarrassing for the competition instead of for Samsung.
- Reported weight: 201 grams
- Reported thickness when unfolded: 4.5 mm
- Outer display: 5.4 inches
- Inner display: 7.8 inches, 4:3 aspect ratio
- Battery: 4,800 mAh
- Charging: 45 W
If these numbers hold up, Samsung may finally have a Fold that feels less like a tech demo and more like a polished daily driver. The open question is whether the company can pair those hardware gains with a software experience that justifies the premium, because that is where foldables still tend to get a little too clever for their own good.
