Samsung’s July 22 event points to three new foldables

Samsung’s summer Galaxy Unpacked events rarely focus on conventional flagship phones. This year’s presentation, scheduled for Wednesday, July 22, is expected to feature three foldables, two new smartwatches and new Galaxy AI functions—although much of the lineup has already appeared in leaks.

According to WinFuture, Samsung’s main focus will again be foldable devices: the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 and a more expensive Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. After refining the form factor last summer, the company is reportedly shifting its attention to stronger panels, a less visible crease and more aggressive specifications.

Samsung’s next foldable smartphones

All three models are expected to use Flex Titanium, a technology designed to strengthen the internal displays while reducing the crease. That would address two of the category’s longest-running concerns more directly than a cosmetic redesign.

Early reports suggest the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be slightly thicker than its predecessor but lighter, weighing 180 g versus 188 g for the Z Flip 7. Its rumored specifications include:

• Exynos 2600 processor
• 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X internal display at 120 Hz
• 4.1-inch Super AMOLED external display
• 50-megapixel main, 12-megapixel ultrawide and 10-megapixel front cameras
• 4,300 mAh battery with faster 45 W charging

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to be wider and shorter than its predecessor. In its unfolded state, it could measure 4.5 mm thick and weigh 201 g. Leaked specifications point to a 7.6-inch, 120 Hz internal display, a 5.5-inch external panel, two 50-megapixel cameras and two 10-megapixel sensors for selfies and video calls.

A Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy is reportedly planned for the Fold 8. Storage options may include 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB.

Galaxy Ring 2 and Samsung’s smart glasses

The event may also include a brief reference to Galaxy Ring 2 and Samsung’s intelligent eyewear project. Samsung and Google have already shown the glasses concept with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, but have not publicly disclosed its price or privacy policy.

Even a short teaser would indicate that Samsung intends to challenge Meta* in a smart-glasses market that has become both highly visible and controversial. The first Galaxy Ring launched two years ago, while Oura Ring 5 is already thinner and offers longer battery life. A hint about Galaxy Ring 2 would therefore signal Samsung’s response to a wearables market increasingly focused on health and monitoring—not necessarily a full product announcement.
