Lenovo’s Legion Y700 Infinite is expected to arrive in China as the first model in the series with both 5G connectivity and an OLED display. According to a leak from Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station, the compact gaming tablet could be unveiled as early as August.

The Infinite is said to feature an 8-inch OLED panel with a centered front-facing camera. That would mark a clear change from the Legion Y700 Gen 5, released earlier this year with an IPS LCD display. The smaller, lighter design also appears to be part of Lenovo’s strategy: the tablet is expected to weigh about 310 grams, roughly 50 grams less than the standard Y700 Gen 5, sold globally as the Legion Tab Gen 5.

Legion Y700 Infinite specifications

The biggest connectivity upgrade is support for 5G and dual-SIM standby, using both a physical SIM card and an eSIM. That would make the gaming tablet less dependent on Wi-Fi for cloud gaming and streaming while traveling.

The leaked hardware list includes:

  • An overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, with CPU speeds of up to 4.74 GHz
  • Memory and storage options of 12GB/256GB, 16GB/512GB, 24GB/512GB, and 24GB/1TB
  • A 50-megapixel main camera
  • RGB lighting on the rear panel

The specifications suggest Lenovo is prioritizing performance over the battery-life focus common among larger tablets. For compact gaming devices, the processor, display and cooling system are often the primary selling points.

Compact gaming tablet competition

The Infinite would face an established rival in the premium compact gaming segment: the Red Magic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro, known outside China as the Red Magic Astra 2.

Lenovo has not confirmed the leaked specifications or announced international availability. If the company takes the Legion Y700 Infinite beyond China, its combination of OLED, 5G and a 310-gram chassis could make the market significantly more competitive than the broader Android tablet category.
