Roblox says it will bring AI-generated game creation to smartphones and tablets later this year through a new feature called Build.

Build is designed to turn natural language prompts into playable interactive experiences, extending Roblox’s long-running push to let users make their own games. The company says the toolset uses a mix of open-source and proprietary AI models.

According to Roblox, Build will begin public alpha testing for users in the Philippines on July 28, with additional regions coming in the following months. The company had said limited alpha testing would start later this month.

There are also age limits attached to the rollout:

  • Users must be 9 or older to access the Build tools
  • Creations that pass safety checks and are published will be available globally to users 16 and older

The launch comes as Roblox continues to tighten account protections. As Engadget notes, the company’s age verification systems had an uneven start, though it still introduced restricted account tiers last month.

That puts extra scrutiny on Build as Roblox tries to make mobile game creation easier without repeating earlier moderation and safety missteps.
