Apple is rolling out new Android updates for both Apple TV and Apple Music, with homescreen widgets as the main addition.

Apple TV 2.5 adds three widgets that bring the “Continue watching” carousel from the top of the app’s main tab to the Android homescreen. Apple TV Small shows one episode or movie, Medium shows two, and Large uses bigger artwork for the first item alongside a scrollable list for browsing. Tapping a title starts playback immediately.

The widgets are not resizable, and they match what Apple already offers on iOS. Version 2.5 is rolling out now through the Google Play Store.

Apple Music 6.5 is also rolling out widely today. That is a notable jump from version 5.2; 9to5Google says Apple may be aligning Android version numbers more closely with iOS, where 26.5 is the current stable release on the iPhone.

The update adds two new widgets:

  • Pins, for quick access to pinned items
  • Live Radio, for starting radio playback without opening the dedicated tab

They join existing widgets including Now Playing, Recently Played, Recommendations, and Top Charts.

Apple Music 6.5 also adds the ability to share songs, albums, playlists, and lyrics to WhatsApp.
