Atom electric car beats range rating with 597 km run

Russia’s Atom electric car covered 597 km on one charge, beating its 500-km rated range during a Moscow–Tula road test.

The Russian Atom electric car covered 597 km on a single charge during a real-world test—nearly 100 km beyond its stated range. The run was organized by developer Kama, with the vehicle traveling from Moscow to Tula and back without stopping to recharge.

To maximize the battery’s range, testers switched off the driver-assistance systems and maintained a steady pace. According to the company, the average speed was 60 km/h, with no sudden acceleration or hard braking. That driving pattern is typically what allows electric cars to approach the upper end of their rated range.

Atom range, production and price

The Atom’s official range is 500 km, making the test result almost one-fifth higher. Range remains a major purchase factor in Russia’s electric-car market, particularly as the model is positioned alongside vehicles from BYD, Tesla and Zeekr.

Atom is assembled at the Moskvich plant. Its notable features include a display integrated into the steering wheel and a body without a central B-pillar. The first batch reached customers on July 17, while the starting price is 3 million rubles, including state support.

The early deliveries and road test are intended to present Atom as a production-ready car rather than an exhibition prototype. For buyers, the 597-km result gives the project a practical selling point beyond the figure listed in its specifications.
