Toyota promises lifetime battery coverage for two EVs
GAC Toyota will cover battery fires and replace failed battery elements for Platinum 7 and Platinum 3X owners, even after eight years.

GAC Toyota has launched an indefinite battery-support program for owners of the Platinum 7 flagship sedan—also known as the Toyota bZ7—and the Platinum 3X crossover, also known as the Toyota bZ3X. The joint venture says it will cover the consequences of a traction-battery fire and replace failed battery elements at no charge, even after the vehicle’s standard service period ends.
GAC Toyota describes the policy as the first initiative of its kind in the automotive industry. If a fire was not caused by the spread of an external fire, the company says it will cover all related costs, regardless of the circumstances.
The program covers a broad range of cases, including a battery manufacturing defect, damage to the vehicle’s underside, and a battery fire following a traffic accident. The company also says it will replace defective battery elements free of charge even after eight years of vehicle operation.
The offer applies not only to future buyers but also to existing owners of the Platinum 7 and Platinum 3X. GAC Toyota has not yet disclosed the program’s full terms, including how it will determine whether a claim qualifies, who will assess the damage, or how the cause of a fire will be established.
