Xiaomi prints 1 million smartphone guides for seniors

Xiaomi has printed 1 million copies of a smartphone guide for older people in China, and the company is giving them away free at Xiaomi Home stores.

The “Smartphone User Guide for Older People” is designed for readers who find modern phones difficult to use. Written in simple language, it explains how to:

• Increase text size and volume
• Recognize app icons
• Add contacts
• Install and uninstall apps
• Change wallpapers
• Adjust other basic settings

Each visitor to a participating Xiaomi Home store can receive one copy of the printed guide. The company says the initiative is intended to improve smartphone literacy among older users, with particular attention to settings that often confuse beginners.

This is not Xiaomi’s first effort of this kind. In February, the company released an earlier batch of printed instructions, distributing more than 70,000 copies through over 2,000 branded stores. The new million-copy run is a substantially larger continuation of the program.
