Yandex has updated its driver services with two practical additions: queue data for gas stations and routes designed to reduce fuel consumption. The information is now available in Yandex Maps, Navigator, Go, and Refueling.
Queue estimates appear directly in a gas station’s listing, where drivers can also start navigation. The feature currently works in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and 14 other major Russian cities. Yandex tracks not only fuel availability but also how crowded each station is.
The company calculates queues from anonymized data gathered from several sources, including Yandex Refueling, Yandex Go, driver reports, road conditions, and user survey responses. Combining these signals is intended to help distinguish a genuine queue from a temporary concentration of vehicles near a particular station.
