Samsung’s new laptop OLEDs reach 1,600 nits
Samsung’s new tandem OLED laptop panels can reach 1,600 nits and are headed to Lenovo, Asus, MSI, and Dell machines.

Samsung is bringing tandem OLED laptop panels capable of reaching 1,600 nits of peak brightness in small windows. The panels are intended for upcoming machines from Lenovo, Asus, MSI, and Dell, including laptops certified under the latest DisplayHDR True Black 1400 standard.
That certification requires 40% higher brightness than older single-layer OLED panels, according to Samsung. The improvement should make HDR content easier to see in bright rooms, while also helping games and films retain highlights that can be lost on dimmer displays.
Tandem OLED laptops from Lenovo, Asus, MSI, and Dell
Tandem OLED panels increase brightness and efficiency by stacking multiple OLED layers. Samsung has begun a “full-scale” supply of the technology, starting with the Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition. Panels will later appear in laptops from Asus, MSI, and Dell.
The Yoga Pro 9i Aura is aimed primarily at creators, but it can also support gaming with Nvidia RTX 5000-series laptop GPUs. Higher sustained brightness could reduce the impact of automatic brightness limiting, or ABL, which has often curtailed bright scenes in OLED games and movies.

Samsung has not announced plans to use these panels in standalone OLED monitors. For now, some OLED gaming monitors, including the LG UltraGear OLED 27GX700A, already offer higher brightness levels.
