OnePlus will unveil the N6x in India on July 31, confirming that the smartphone series is continuing amid reports that the company may scale back operations in the United States and Europe. The company has also released the first images of the new model, which introduce a noticeably different design from the N6.
The N6x has flat sides, sharp corners, and a flat rear panel. Its most prominent feature is a vertically oriented oval camera module in the upper-left corner, with the flash placed separately. The N6 used a square camera housing, making this a clear change in approach.
OnePlus has shown the phone in two finishes: blue and dark burgundy. The device will also retain a 3.5mm headphone jack, a feature that may matter more to some buyers than the exterior redesign. The promotional campaign uses the slogan “Beyond what you x-pect,” hinting at additional device features.
Why OnePlus chose India for the launch
India is one of the company’s key mass-market smartphone markets, where it has long competed with Samsung, Xiaomi, and realme. OnePlus has an established retail presence and a strong fan base there, and its local launches often attract nearly as much attention as global announcements. Showing the N6x in India therefore looks like a statement about the market, not simply a choice of venue.

Confusion began after reports claimed that OnePlus might withdraw from the United States, Europe, and India. Such a move would be significant in the first two regions, where the brand sells both flagship and more affordable phones and has historically relied on carrier and online channels in the US.
India is a different case for OnePlus. The company has repeatedly been caught in speculation about reducing its launch footprint, with each rumor prompting questions about its product range and sales. The N6x announcement at least confirms the company’s continued presence in one major market. The next date to watch is July 31.
