Samsung has started pushing its April 2026 security update to the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 4, and Galaxy Z Flip 4, with the first wave landing in South Korea. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the other foldables in the lineup are getting an update that fixes 47 security issues, and for owners of these phones, that is the sort of boring software housekeeping you want to see happen quietly and often.

Firmware versions rolling out in South Korea

The new builds are labeled F946NKSS6FZCS for the Galaxy Z Fold 5, F731NKSS6FZCS for the Galaxy Z Flip 5, F936NKSS7IZCS for the Galaxy Z Fold 4, and F721NKSS7IZCS for the Galaxy Z Flip 4. Samsung usually expands these regional security releases quickly, so if you are outside South Korea, the wait should not be long.

  • Galaxy Z Fold 5: F946NKSS6FZCS
  • Galaxy Z Flip 5: F731NKSS6FZCS
  • Galaxy Z Fold 4: F936NKSS7IZCS
  • Galaxy Z Flip 4: F721NKSS7IZCS

How to check for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 update

Samsung says users can look for the patch by opening Settings, then Software update, then tapping Download and install. That routine has become almost muscle memory on Galaxy phones, which is a sign of a healthy support cycle: the software may not be flashy, but it is one reason Samsung keeps old foldables in the conversation longer than many rivals.

One UI 8.5 is already in the picture

The security update arrives as Samsung is also testing One UI 8.5 on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. The beta lets those owners try a redesigned interface and new features before the stable release, while the Fold 4 and Flip 4 are still eligible for One UI 8.5 without being included in the beta program. In other words, Samsung is keeping the older generation patched, but the newer pair still gets the first taste of the next software layer.

If Samsung follows its usual playbook, more regions should see the April 2026 patch over the next few days. The bigger question is how quickly Samsung brings the next major software version to the two Fold 5 and Flip 5 models that are already in the beta queue.
