Galaxy Watch 9 leak points to 3nm chip and local AI

Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 9 is expected to debut on July 22 with a new 3nm Qualcomm chip, local AI features and a health-focused coaching system, according to a leak from Evan Blass. Blass recently published images of the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 ahead of Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event.

Snapdragon Wear Elite and on-device AI

The main detail in the leak is the processor. The Galaxy Watch 9 is reportedly powered by Snapdragon Wear Elite, a 3nm Qualcomm platform designed to replace the Exynos W1000 used in Samsung’s previous wearable models.

Qualcomm’s marketing materials claim roughly a 50% performance increase over its predecessor. The platform also includes a dedicated neural processing unit (NPU). Samsung is reportedly planning to use it for local fitness-data processing and AI-powered guidance, including scenarios that work without a nearby smartphone.

The leaked specifications include:

• 3nm Snapdragon Wear Elite processor
• Around 50% higher performance than Exynos W1000
• A dedicated NPU for AI features
• Local processing for some functions without a smartphone

Galaxy Watch 9 design, health features and battery

The design reportedly remains largely unchanged, with the same case and physical buttons. The most visible update may be a set of matte finishes: white, dark blue, olive green and black.

The feature list is more substantial. The watches are expected to monitor vital signs, track sleep apnea and offer a running coach with step-by-step instructions and progress tracking. A Vitals panel is also reportedly planned to flag readings that fall outside an acceptable range.

The latest leak does not mention battery capacity, but an earlier report cited 325mAh for the 40mm model and 445mAh for the 44mm version. That would be 10mAh more than the Watch 8. The modest increase suggests Samsung is focusing less on a major battery upgrade and more on the faster chip and new health features.

Samsung’s presentation on July 22 will show whether the Galaxy Watch 9 is a meaningful upgrade or a familiar design with new internals.
