Galaxy S26 Ultra Red Spot Isn’t OLED Burn-In

Samsung says the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s red screen spot is a software-related Privacy Display issue, not OLED burn-in, and will be fixed by update.

A red spot reported on the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s display is not OLED burn-in, Samsung Electronics says. The company attributed the issue to the way the phone’s software handles its display technology and promised a fix that will not require screen replacement.

Reports began appearing three to four months after users started using the smartphones. Owners noticed a reddish area near the center of the screen and feared permanent damage to the OLED panel.

Samsung’s analysis linked the problem to Privacy Display, a technology introduced with the Galaxy S26 Ultra. It is based on LEAD 2.0, which improves OLED energy efficiency and color reproduction by removing the polarizer.

According to Samsung representatives, maximum brightness combined with strong ambient light can cause the display’s color balance to shift, producing the red tint. The company has prepared a software optimization for color correction and has begun installing the update for users who contact service centers. Samsung says the fix will subsequently become available to all Galaxy S26 Ultra owners.
