Palladium is used by the automotive industry and electronics manufacturers, while demand from automakers also has a strong effect on its price.
Russia’s palladium reserves
Russia remains the world’s largest holder of palladium resources, accounting for 46% of global resources. The country’s reserves of all platinum-group metals are estimated at roughly 16,000 tonnes, with palladium making up about 70% of that total.
The main deposits are located on the Kola Peninsula, in Krasnoyarsk Krai, and in Chelyabinsk Oblast. If Italy’s current purchasing volumes continue, its imports of Russian metal will finish the year well above the 2025 level.
