Gigabyte used Computex 2026 to show off a new Aorus Master 16 that tries to do the usual laptop trick, only harder: cram near-desktop gaming hardware into a body just 19 mm thick. The headline configuration pairs AMD’s Ryzen 9 9955HX3D with Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop, which is a very loud way of saying this machine is built for people who want performance first and portability somewhere later.
That pitch also reflects where premium gaming laptops are heading. Asus, MSI, and Razer have all spent recent product cycles chasing thinner chassis without fully backing away from high-wattage GPUs, because the buyers who pay flagship money still want max settings, fast panels, and some bragging rights. Gigabyte is clearly aiming at the same crowd, but with more thermal optimism than most.
Ryzen 9 9955HX3D and RTX 5090 Laptop inside
The top version of the Aorus Master 16 uses a 16-core, 32-thread Ryzen 9 9955HX3D with 3D V-Cache, alongside an RTX 5090 Laptop with 24 GB of memory and a cTDP of up to 175 W. Gigabyte says the cooling system, called WindForce Infinity 3D, uses a vapor chamber and is designed to handle up to 230 W in total.
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D, 16 cores / 32 threads, 3D V-Cache
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop, 24 GB, cTDP up to 175 W
- Cooling: WindForce Infinity 3D with vapor chamber, up to 230 W dissipation
16-inch OLED display and 99 Wh battery
Gigabyte is pairing that hardware with a 16-inch OLED display in 16:10 format, 2.5K resolution, a 240 Hz refresh rate, and a claimed response time of up to 0.2 ms. The panel covers 100% of the DCI-P3 gamut, carries a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and is certified for VESA DisplayHDR 1000, which is the sort of spec sheet that looks designed to bully your current monitor.
The rest is less surprising but still important: a 99 Wh battery, charging to 50% in 30 minutes, four speakers with Dolby Atmos, a 1080p front camera, and an IR sensor. There is also GiMATE, Gigabyte’s AI assistant for adjusting power profiles, which sounds useful if you enjoy digging through laptop tuning menus less than you enjoy gaming.
Gigabyte Aorus Master 16 price and availability
Gigabyte has not said how much the Aorus Master 16 will cost or when it will ship. Final configurations and sales timing will vary by region, which is a polite way of saying buyers should not expect a clean global launch calendar.
That leaves the real question hanging over the machine: whether a 19 mm gaming laptop with top-tier silicon can stay cool, quiet, and affordable at the same time. The industry has been trying to answer that for years, and usually two out of three is the best anyone gets.
