Vivo has launched the T5 Lite 44W 5G in India, betting on the features that tend to matter most in the budget segment: battery life and durability. The phone pairs a 6500mAh battery with 44W charging, IP65 protection, and MIL-STD-810H certification, while 5G support comes as standard in a market where those basics are increasingly expected even at lower prices.

The tradeoff is clear. Vivo includes a 6.74-inch LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1200 nits peak brightness in High Brightness Mode, but resolution tops out at HD+ 1600 × 720. At close to 20,000 rupees, that stands out, since some rivals in the same range already offer Full HD+ panels.

The battery is the main selling point. Vivo says it will retain at least 80% of its capacity after 1600 charge cycles, and that the phone can charge from 1% to 50% in 38 minutes.

  • MediaTek Dimensity 6300 built on a 6nm process
  • 4GB or 6GB LPDDR4X RAM
  • 128GB or 256GB UFS 2.2 storage
  • microSD support up to 2TB
  • 50MP main camera, 0.08MP secondary sensor, and 5MP front camera
  • Side-mounted fingerprint scanner
  • 3.5mm headphone jack
  • Android 16

Vivo is not positioning this as a performance phone. The Dimensity 6300 is a familiar chip for affordable 5G devices and has already appeared in entry-level models from Realme, Motorola, and Samsung. There is also an RGB light on the rear for notifications. The phone weighs 209g and is 8.39mm thick.

Software-wise, the device runs Android 16 with Origin OS 6.0. Vivo also adds a few extra features, including text generation, audio transcription, and Private Space for storing files in a separate protected area.

Sales in India start on July 22 through Flipkart, Vivo’s own store, and offline retail. The phone comes in Twilight Shadow and Wave Blue, with pricing set at:

  • 19,999 rupees for 4GB/128GB
  • 21,999 rupees for 6GB/128GB
  • 24,999 rupees for 6GB/256GB

The biggest question is whether buyers will accept an HD+ display at those prices. Vivo is clearly wagering that for many in India, two-day battery life and a body better suited to drops and splashes will matter more.
