Roscosmos tests AI for ISS crew reports
Roscosmos is testing AI aboard the ISS to help astronauts prepare daily reports and reduce paperwork.

Roscosmos has begun testing artificial intelligence aboard the International Space Station, initially assigning it one of the most routine tasks in orbit: helping astronauts prepare their daily reports.
Sergey Krikalev, deputy head of Roscosmos' human spaceflight programs, announced the experiment. He said the AI is already involved in testing and is helping the crew assemble work materials faster by reducing part of the paperwork burden.
The trial builds on systems that already reduce workload aboard the ISS. Telemetry has long been automated, diagnostics are often performed remotely, and digital services support the crew with minimal intervention. Generative tools are now being added to that set of capabilities.
NASA and the European Space Agency are also developing AI systems for data analysis, experiment planning, and crew support. In orbit, even an hour recovered from routine administration can be redirected to scientific work.

The Russian experiment will test how well these tools perform in a confined environment governed by strict operational rules. If the results are positive, similar systems could become standard software for future stations and deep-space missions.
