Pixel Watch 5 may reuse the Pixel Watch 4 chip

The Pixel Watch 5 may arrive with the same core processor as its predecessor, making 3GB of RAM the most notable hardware change revealed so far.

A Google Play Console listing spotted by 9to5Google identifies a device called “google godric_btwifi” with a Qualcomm SW5100, a 4x ARM Cortex-A53 CPU and Qualcomm Adreno 702 graphics. The specifications point to a chip from the same Snapdragon W5 family Google has used since the Pixel Watch 2.

The watch could even use the exact Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 chip found in the Pixel Watch 4, assuming its yet-to-be-listed co-processor remains unchanged. That would conflict with earlier leaks suggesting Google might introduce a proprietary Tensor chip for the Pixel Watch 5.

The listing shows 3GB of RAM, up from 2GB in the Pixel Watch 4. That extra memory may not significantly affect everyday use, but it could support new Gemini Intelligence features Google is reportedly planning.

Leaked renders show a design that looks largely unchanged from the previous generation. The Pixel Watch 5 is reportedly set to come in Dark Anthracite, a dark gray, and Pyrite, a green shade. New bands are also expected, but the leaks so far do not indicate a major change in functionality.

Google could still introduce meaningful software features. The company has patented technology for measuring arterial stiffness, which could appear on a future watch, although there is no confirmation that it will ship with the Pixel Watch 5.

Pixel Watch 5 price and upgrade case

Dealabs reported earlier this month that the Pixel Watch 5 will likely start at $400, or $50 more than the Pixel Watch 4. That price could be difficult to justify if the new model retains nearly the same design and processor.

The available leaks increasingly suggest that Google’s upcoming Made by Google event will focus on software for the Pixel Watch 5. That plays to the company’s strengths, but the watch’s value as an upgrade remains uncertain.
