Monday.com is cutting 20% of its workforce, or about 630 employees, as part of a restructuring designed to redirect investment toward artificial intelligence projects.

The Israeli workplace software company said the layoffs will support “a leaner, more focused operating model” as it concentrates on its AI Work Platform. Monday.com pivoted sharply toward AI earlier this year, redesigning its product around the idea that enterprise customers increasingly want AI agents to work alongside employees.

The platform currently includes:

  • A no-code app builder
  • A customizable AI agent
  • A workflow automation tool
  • A chatbot that can generate reports and update dashboards

Monday.com joins a growing list of major technology companies cutting staff while increasing AI investment. According to Layoffs.fyi, tech layoffs reached a monthly high unseen in years in May, while a record 78% of companies cited a need to refocus on AI as a reason for job cuts this year. More than 122,000 tech roles have been eliminated so far in 2026, the tracking site reported.

Monday.com expects the restructuring to generate $45 million to $55 million in charges.
