Kawasaki targets 2035 production for rideable Corleo robot

Kawasaki plans to produce its rideable four-legged Corleo robot by 2035, with a prototype targeted for 2028 and Nvidia helping develop its controls.

Kawasaki plans to turn its unusual Corleo four-legged robot into a production vehicle, with serial sales targeted for 2035. The machine is designed to carry a person and be ridden like a motorcycle, while using four legs to tackle terrain that would be difficult for conventional wheeled vehicles.

A dedicated team of several dozen engineers was formed in April, and Kawasaki Heavy Industries says work on the control technologies has accelerated through cooperation with Nvidia. The company plans to complete a prototype by 2028.

How Kawasaki Corleo works

Corleo is roughly the size of a large motorcycle. Its rider controls the robot with a handlebar and by shifting their body weight, rather than using conventional wheels or pedals. Kawasaki says the design is inspired by a lion, although many online users think the machine looks more like a gorilla.

The robot uses cameras and sensors to assess the terrain and select a safer route. Its four-legged layout is intended to let it cross mountain paths and other uneven ground while carrying a rider.

The earlier concept featured a 150cc hydrogen generator, along with a digital system that displayed navigation data and the vehicle’s position in real time. The source does not provide pricing or a more specific launch date beyond Kawasaki’s 2035 target, and it does not describe the planned production volume.
