Huawei boosts MateBook Fold 2026 with Kirin X90 Plus
Huawei’s 2026 MateBook Fold adds the Kirin X90 Plus, a stronger 18-inch OLED panel, M-Pencil support, and claimed 25% higher performance.

Huawei will unveil an updated MateBook Fold Ultimate Design 2026 in China on August 5. The foldable laptop keeps the broad design of last year’s model but adds the Kirin X90 Plus processor, a reinforced display, and support for the M-Pencil stylus.
Huawei claims a 25% performance increase, attributing it to the new processor, hardware refinements, HarmonyOS, and cloud technologies. The company has not yet provided independent benchmark results or explained how much of the gain comes from each component.
A stronger 18-inch folding display
The laptop retains an 18-inch foldable OLED display with a 3.3K resolution, 1,600-nit peak brightness, and support for HDR Vivid. The panel covers the P3 color space, while the display occupies 92% of the device’s inner surface.
Huawei says the screen is protected by an ultrathin glass layer and a material containing a non-Newtonian fluid. According to the company, this combination raises impact resistance by 90% and increases resistance to bending by 10 times.
The hinge has also been redesigned around a drop-shaped mechanism that has completed Huawei’s internal testing. The company did not disclose durability figures or a testing methodology for the hinge.

Kirin X90 Plus and file-handling gains
The key specifications listed for the 2026 model are:
- Kirin X90 Plus processor with a claimed 25% performance increase;
- Ultra Space Memory, designed to accelerate data compression and file opening;
- M-Pencil support;
- an integrated Ark engine for faster document opening in WPS Office.
Huawei estimates that Ultra Space Memory will make data compression 50% faster, opening large files 40% faster, and opening large WPS Office documents through the Ark engine 30% faster.
The previous MateBook Fold launched in 2025 with the Kirin X90, 32GB of RAM, and storage of up to 2TB. Huawei has not said whether the 2026 model will retain those memory and storage configurations, nor has it announced pricing or a release date beyond the August 5 presentation.
