Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 users have started reporting vertical lines appearing on the display after installing One UI 8 Watch. One case described on Reddit says the watch developed a permanent greenish-white line along the right edge of the screen.

The cause has not been confirmed, but the issue looks familiar. It closely resembles the long-running “green line” complaints seen on some Samsung smartphones, where users have reported persistent green or pink lines appearing after software updates.

That makes the timing awkward for Samsung. The Galaxy Watch 4 launched in 2021, which means many units are already out of warranty. If the fault turns out to be tied to the update rather than physical damage or screen burn-in, getting a free repair could still be difficult.

Samsung has not publicly responded to the complaints so far, and the scale of the problem remains unclear. Still, the reports create an uncomfortable backdrop for the company. In some countries, Samsung previously introduced service programs for Galaxy phones, offering free screen replacements even for devices outside warranty when similar line issues drew widespread attention.

The Watch 4 line carries extra weight for Samsung because it was the company’s first smartwatch family to switch to Wear OS after dropping Tizen. According to Counterpoint, Samsung remains one of the world’s largest smartwatch makers.
