Russian company EVM has stopped producing the EVM Pro, one of the country’s early light commercial electric vehicles. The company had displayed the truck publicly several times, but the project has now been put on hold.
EVM says the program has not been permanently canceled. Resources have been redirected to other areas, and the company could return to the model later. Ilya Rashkin, EVM’s founder and CEO, said the company does not rule out restarting production, although its priorities have changed for now.
The EVM Pro was first shown in 2022. Built on the UAZ Profi chassis, it was advertised with a range of up to 300 km and a payload of up to 1 ton. Its battery included a heating system intended to preserve performance in cold weather.
The truck was aimed at the relatively narrow market for urban delivery vehicles. Electric vehicles still account for a small share of the Russian market, while commercial electrification is progressing even more slowly than adoption of passenger EVs. For a vehicle in this segment, production scale, component costs, localization and operating economics can be as decisive as the underlying design.
