Casio’s new MTP-B146 line launches in the US with a rare full weekday display, quartz movement, and prices starting at $110.

Casio has started US sales of three new watches in its MTP-B146 series, betting not on smart features but on a detail that is unusual in mass-market models: at the 12 o’clock position, the day of the week is written in full rather than shortened to three letters. In a market where classic watches increasingly try to look like gadgets, Casio has gone in the opposite direction with a deliberately simple accessory styled after the 1980s.

The lineup includes two steel-tone versions, MTP-B146D-1AV and MTP-B146D-2AV, plus the gold-tone MTP-B146G-3AV. All three use the same stainless steel case and the same internals; only the finish and dial color change. The standard versions are priced at $110, while the gold-tone model costs $130.

Casio appears to be targeting buyers who like vintage shapes but not the pricing of models such as the Seiko Presage or Tissot PRX. The finish here is simpler and the movement is quartz, but the price is lower too, at a time when many retro-style analog watches from major brands now start at $200 and up.

Key specs for the Casio MTP-B146:

  • Case: stainless steel, 40.8 x 35 mm

  • Glass: mineral
  • Water resistance: 50 m
  • Battery: SR920SW

  • Wrist size: 150 to 205 mm

The dial layout is restrained: a large window at the top for the full weekday name, a standard date at 3 o’clock, simple hour markers, and standard hour, minute, and second hands. There are no sensors, no display, no Bluetooth, and no solar charging. The steel bracelet uses a one-touch, triple-fold clasp.

With 50-meter water resistance, the watch is not meant for serious swimming or diving, but it should handle rain, handwashing, and pool use without deep jumps. For an everyday model, that is usually enough.

Casio has been expanding its US watch lineup in recent months across several styles. Alongside the understated MTP-B146, the company already sells more tech-heavy G-Steel models with Bluetooth and solar charging, as well as bright Color Camo designs with a Y2K look. Against that backdrop, the MTP-B146 suggests there is still demand for straightforward analog watches: according to Statista, the global watch and jewelry market is on track to generate more than $480 billion in revenue in 2026. US sales of the MTP-B146 are already live.
