BMW has launched a new ChatGPT plugin that lets users configure a car through a natural-language conversation. The company says the tool combines generative AI’s language capabilities with BMW’s product and configuration database.
That connection is intended to ensure the assistant does more than suggest an appealing setup: it should also verify that the generated configuration is real and available to buy.

Users can make a straightforward request such as, “Help me choose a red BMW 3 Series with 19-inch wheels.” The plugin then returns suitable options without requiring detailed knowledge of BMW’s model range.
More experienced shoppers can describe specific requirements, including the car’s dimensions, ground clearance, and powertrain type. They can also compare the operating costs of different models in ChatGPT while considering factors such as handling and the availability of all-wheel drive.
