AegisAI has raised $36 million in a Series A round to expand its AI-based email security platform, bringing the startup’s total funding to $49 million, according to the company.

The funding will support several priorities:

  • Expanding autonomous threat-detection agents
  • Growing the enterprise sales operation
  • Preparing for the broader launch of Vanguard, a platform for analyzing suspicious emails

Vanguard is designed to follow potentially malicious links, inspect attachments, and produce a report detailing the results of its investigation.

AegisAI presents its platform as an alternative to traditional email filters, which rely heavily on predefined rules and threat indicators. The startup connects to Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 through APIs, then uses language models and a network of interacting AI agents to assess the meaning of messages, sender behavior, links, and other contextual signals.

The company was founded in 2025 by former Google security employees who worked on reCAPTCHA, Safe Browsing, and Web Risk. AegisAI emerged from stealth in September 2025, after raising $13 million in seed funding.
