Rylais is straightforward and honest – a stark contrast to her older sister’s cunning nature. She even jokes in-game that she was ”the good one.” The downside: wherever she goes, spring turns to frost, crops die, and orchards become frozen mazes. Her presence freezes the world around her without warning.
In combat, Crystal Maiden is a pure support hero. She provides a global mana regeneration aura, slows enemies with Frostbite, and unleashes the devastating Freezing Field ultimate. This ultimate demands precise positioning, requiring her to channel the spell standing still amid chaos-no easy task for the faint-hearted.
Lina: Dota 2’s fierce older sister
Lina holds the role of a high-damage carry and mid-laner in Dota 2, known for her powerful pyromancy. Her abilities-Dragon Slave, Light Strike Array, and the ultimate Laguna Blade-can obliterate most heroes instantly when combined with a level 2 rune.

Moscow-based cosplayers likeassassin and Torie have shown that cosplay extends far beyond characters from The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and Genshin Impact. This time, they’ve perfectly embodied two iconic sisters from Dota 2 – Crystal Maiden and Lina. Photographer Milligan Photo captured their enchanting transformations.

Fire and ice: iconic sisters Crystal Maiden and Lina from Dota 2
Lina and Rylais, better known as Crystal Maiden, are sisters whose story is etched into Dota 2’s lore long before they parted ways. Raised in a temperate climate, their family faced six consecutive disasters – homes destroyed by fire or frozen solid – pushing their desperate parents to make a harsh decision: separate the girls.

The older sister, Lina, was sent south to the blazing desert land of Misrule, where her fiery powers fit right in. Her arrival stirred quite a reaction-many aristocratic suitors came calling but left with singed eyebrows.

Meanwhile, young Rylais was sent north to the icy reaches of Icewrack, where an ancient Ice Mage trained her in solitude atop the Blue Heart glacier. Years later, declaring her ready, the mage retreated into a thousand-year slumber, leaving Rylais the guardian of the frozen north. Her mastery over ice magic has only deepened since.

Crystal Maiden: Dota 2’s underestimated younger sister
Rylais Moon, a.k.a. Crystal Maiden, remains one of Dota 2’s most recognizable support heroes. Her roots trace back to the original DotA mod from Warcraft III as Frost Maiden.
