Xtra pauses DJI camera clone and refunds preorders
Xtra has paused Muse 2 Pro preorders and will refund $20 deposits as FCC scrutiny of DJI-linked camera companies intensifies.

Xtra Technology has removed the Xtra Muse 2 Pro from its website, paused preorders indefinitely, and promised refunds for the $20 deposits it collected. The move comes only days after the company presented the camera at a Los Angeles launch event.
Xtra now says it has not committed to releasing the product:
“XTRA has not made a final announcement regarding future product availability. We have not announced a new product launch timeline at this time. Further information will be shared separately once the relevant plans are confirmed.”
The company says it cannot confirm a reliable launch timeline. The decision also follows increasing FCC scrutiny of companies accused of helping DJI technology enter the United States despite restrictions on DJI.
Without FCC authorization, Xtra cannot legally import, sell, or market a radio-equipped device in the US. The FCC proposed a $25,000 fine against Xtra and each of Skyrover’s suppliers on July 10 for failing to answer questions about their technology’s origins. On July 17, the agency proposed retroactively barring those companies from continuing to sell existing products.

It remains unclear whether the FCC has formally rejected Xtra’s products. The DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Pro was approved before the drone ban took effect last December, while Xtra’s version received approval on June 17. Those approval documents have since disappeared from FCC search results, although they were preserved by web crawlers. The FCC did not respond to requests for comment.
Xtra continues selling its other cameras, including five models based on DJI cameras, for now. Customers who reserved the Muse 2 Pro will receive an automatic refund to their original payment method within 5 to 10 business days. They will also receive a single-use 10% discount code, valid for 30 days on Xtra’s online store.
Xtra did not immediately respond to a request for comment. DJI has also not answered questions about Xtra or other companies described as DJI front companies.
