Xiaomi has started selling the 17T and 17T Pro in China, and the headline numbers are doing most of the talking: a 7000 mAh battery for both phones, Leica-branded cameras, and refresh rates that climb as high as 144 Hz on the Pro model. The Xiaomi 17T series also keeps pricing within reach of more buyers than many flagships, while the battery warranty in China stretches to 5 years.

The base Xiaomi 17T starts at 2999 yuan, or about $445. That gets you a 6.59-inch display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, Dimensity 8500 Ultra, and 67-watt charging. The 17T Pro is the obvious spec bully: a 6.83-inch 144 Hz screen, Dimensity 9500, 100-watt wired charging, and 50-watt wireless charging.

7000 mAh battery with 1600-cycle durability claim

Both phones use the same 7000 mAh battery, which Xiaomi says can deliver up to 1.88 days of use. The company also says the battery should retain up to 80% of its capacity after 1600 charging cycles. That is the kind of promise buyers have wanted for years, and it puts pressure on rivals that still treat battery longevity like an optional extra instead of a selling point.

In China, that battery also carries a 5-year warranty. It is a smart move from Xiaomi, because battery anxiety is one of the easiest ways to make a big phone feel old before the rest of the hardware does.

Leica cameras and social-friendly photo features

The camera system was developed with Leica and includes improved color reproduction, Live Photos support, and a mode that turns shots into dynamic sequences for social media. Xiaomi is clearly leaning into the ”camera phone” pitch here, but it is doing so with features people will actually use rather than vague talk about computational magic.

Xiaomi had already announced the start of sales for the 17T family in Russia, so the China launch mainly confirms the company is pushing the series across markets in short order. The real question now is whether the Pro model’s better display, faster charging, and more powerful chip are enough to justify the jump, or whether the standard 17T already hits the sweet spot.
