Australian founders have 48 hours to apply for Stripe x Startup Battlefield, a one-night pitch competition at Stripe Tour Sydney on August 19, 2026. Eight startups will pitch in front of investors, global press, and the Australian tech community. The winner will receive an automatic place at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco.
Prizes and Startup Battlefield details
Startup Battlefield is TechCrunch’s flagship pitch competition. Its alumni include Dropbox, Cloudflare, Discord, and Trello; collectively, more than 1,700 companies have raised $32 billion and produced more than 250 exits.
The partnership with Stripe brings the competition to Sydney for one night. Three finalists will receive prizes:

Every applicant will be invited and registered to attend Stripe Tour Sydney on August 19, whether or not they are selected to pitch.
What applicants need to show
The organizers say they are looking for promising companies rather than Australia’s most polished startups. A company does not need customers, revenue, or a public launch, but it does need a working MVP.
Existing press coverage will not disqualify an applicant if the company’s core technology has not yet had its major moment. Previous applications are also allowed: many Startup Battlefield companies applied more than once before being selected.
The strongest applications should:
- Demonstrate the actual MVP working on video, rather than relying on mockups or screenshots
- Identify competitors and explain specifically where the company wins
- Explain the founders' motivation, timing, and relevant experience
- Stay clear and honest instead of hiding the product beneath a heavily polished presentation
Application deadline and event details
Applications close Monday, July 20, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. AEST. The deadline will not be extended, and there will be no waitlist. After applications close, the only way to attend is as part of the audience.
Entry is free, the competition takes no equity, and the event is held in person in Sydney on August 19, 2026.
Startup Battlefield is led by Isabelle, who scouts founders across 99+ countries and prepares them to pitch to investors and global media at Disrupt.
