Motorola has unveiled the Edge 70 Max, and the standout feature is not its camera or even its 7,100mAh battery. The phone is one of the first notable Android devices to ship with full Qi2 support, including built-in magnets rather than the more limited “Qi2 Ready” approach.
That means it works with magnetic chargers, mounts, and power banks in the same way Apple’s MagSafe ecosystem does on the iPhone. In the Wireless Power Consortium database, the Edge 70 Max is listed with Qi 2.2.1 support and the MPP25 profile, enabling certified magnetic wireless charging at up to 25W.
In practical terms, the magnetic alignment helps the phone snap into place more accurately, reduces energy loss from misalignment, and makes magnetic accessories work without special cases. The consortium has been pushing Qi2 since 2023, but Android adoption has been slow, with many devices supporting the standard only through branded cases with magnetic rings. Until now, full implementations have remained rare, with Google Pixel 10 devices often cited among the few examples.
Motorola Edge 70 Max specs
Motorola has not built the Edge 70 Max around Qi2 alone. The rest of the hardware is positioned firmly in flagship territory:
- Display: 6.82-inch QHD+ AMOLED
- Processor: Snapdragon 8 Gen 5
- Memory: 8GB RAM and 256GB UFS 4.1 storage
- Battery: 7,100mAh
- Wired charging: up to 90W
- Cameras: 50MP main, ultrawide, and 32MP front camera
- Protection: IP68 and IP69
- OS: Android 16 out of the box
There is one clear compromise. Motorola promises five years of security updates, but only two major Android updates. At £700, that looks less generous than what Samsung and Google now offer on their higher-end phones.

Sales have already started in the UK and some other regions. Pricing is set at £700, or about 74,000 rubles at the current exchange rate. That makes the Edge 70 Max more than just another Snapdragon flagship: it is one of the few Android phones where the Qi2 magnetic accessory ecosystem works fully, with no special case or fine print required.
