Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra may get a major gaming boost

Samsung’s Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra could receive a major graphics upgrade if Qualcomm’s next flagship Snapdragon chips deliver what a new leak suggests. Both phones are expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, which could be Qualcomm’s first processor built on a 2nm process.

The reported change is inside the Adreno GPU. Tipster Digital Chat Station claims the graphics processors in the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Gen 6 Pro will feature six slices, alongside what the tipster describes as “exclusive technology with a fully utilized cache.”

That would represent a substantial increase over the Adreno 840 in the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The current GPU reportedly has three slices, meaning the next generation could double that element of the design. SamMobile’s report cautions that the performance impact depends on whether Qualcomm has significantly changed the basic architecture of each slice in the rumored Adreno 845 and Adreno 850 GPUs.

Qualcomm is expected to announce the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Gen 6 Pro at its annual Snapdragon Summit next month in Hawaii. The first phones using the chips could arrive in the fourth quarter of this year, while Samsung’s Galaxy S27 series is expected to launch in early 2027.

The leak therefore points to a clear change from the Galaxy S26 Ultra and other high-end phones using the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5: a potentially much larger GPU configuration, rather than a minor clock-speed adjustment. That could matter most in demanding games such as Wuthering Waves, although the report provides no benchmark results or testing methodology.

The key gap is that Qualcomm has not yet announced these processors, and Samsung has not confirmed the Galaxy S27 Pro or Galaxy S27 Ultra’s chip configuration. Until independent benchmarks are available, the six-slice design is a promising hardware claim—not proof of a specific gaming-performance gain.
