Flowise is shutting down as coding agents take over

Flowise will shut down its core team operations by August 31, 2026, citing a shift away from rigid low-code workflows as developers increasingly use coding agents such as Claude Code and OpenClaw for complex AI applications.
The project’s operators said increasingly capable AI models are changing how developers build. In their view, Flowise’s visual workflow approach works for simpler applications but “quickly hits the limit” as complexity grows. The company will now wind down operations rather than continue active development.

Flowise shutdown timeline
The shutdown will happen in stages:
- July 29, 2026: Flowise announced the wind-down and froze development. The team will stop reviewing or accepting pull requests.
- August 10, 2026: The Flowise GitHub repository will move to Public Archive status. Its code will remain visible indefinitely, but issues and pull requests will be locked. npm packages and Docker images will be marked deprecated.
- August 31, 2026: The core team’s official presence on Discord and GitHub will end. Community moderation will be handed off where applicable.
The project will not disappear immediately. Flowise’s source code will remain available on GitHub under the Apache 2.0 license, allowing users to continue developing it independently. The team specifically encourages companies and community members to fork the repository for internal maintenance or community-led versions.
That leaves Flowise’s code available, but removes the official development channel, package maintenance, and core-team support. For users who depend on the platform, the practical deadline is August 10 for reviewing the archived repository and planning a fork, before the project reaches end of life later that month.
