One Dyson appliance replaces a heater and fan
The $499 Dyson Hot+Cool HF1 replaces a space heater and fan with smart controls, quiet operation, heating and fan-based cooling.

The $499 Dyson Hot+Cool HF1 combines a space heater and a fan in one compact appliance, with smartphone controls and a bladeless design. After three months of testing, it proved useful as a year-round comfort device—especially because its smart features made it easy to operate remotely.
Dyson provided the HF1 for testing and will receive the unit back. In addition to onboard controls and the included remote, the MyDyson app lets users turn the appliance on or off, set timers, adjust oscillation, and create schedules. That means the HF1 can start heating or circulating air automatically at a chosen time, even when nobody is in the room.
The appliance is quiet enough for bedrooms and home offices. In Sleep mode, it runs at 26 decibels and dims its display automatically. Its adjustable tilt directs airflow, while oscillation can be set to 15, 40, or 70 degrees.
The HF1's intelligent thermostat monitors room conditions and adjusts heating output to reach and maintain the selected temperature. Its cooling mode has a key limitation: it is a powerful fan, not an air conditioner, so it circulates air without lowering the room’s temperature.
The bladeless design also simplifies maintenance. Dust can be wiped away with a cloth, without the grilles or exposed blades found on conventional fans and heaters. That may make it a safer option around children and pets, although the metal casing at the front can become slightly hot during heating. The fan also shuts off automatically if it tips over.

At just under six pounds and 23 inches tall, the HF1 is light enough to move between rooms and slim enough to avoid taking up much floor space. Its premium price is easier to justify for buyers who want one appliance with heating, fan circulation, scheduling, quiet operation, and simple cleaning.
