CXMT shares surged 466% on their first day of trading on the Shanghai stock exchange, lifting the Chinese memory maker’s valuation to $484 billion on July 27, 2026. The rally, reported earlier by The Wall Street Journal and CNBC, made ChangXin Memory Technologies the most valuable Chinese company listed on the exchange.

CXMT’s position in the memory market

CXMT is seeking to challenge Samsung, Micron, and SK Hynix, which currently control most of the global memory market. Demand from data-intensive AI companies has tightened supplies, prompting device makers to look for additional sources and lower-cost components.

A Financial Times report said Apple asked the Trump administration for permission to buy CXMT memory, even though the Pentagon has blacklisted the company. Gigabyte has announced support for CXMT RAM in some motherboards, while reports say Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Asus are also evaluating its products.

Founded in 2016, CXMT introduced its first DDR5 RAM products last year. The South China Morning Post reports that the chips remain “roughly one generation” behind leading products from Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron. Counterpoint Research estimated that CXMT held 8% of the global RAM market as of June 2026.
