Casio has unveiled a limited-edition G-Shock to mark the 20th anniversary of Mother 3, one of Nintendo’s most cult RPGs for the Game Boy Advance. The watch is based on the classic DW-5600, but this version trades the usual square G-Shock look for a design packed with sunflowers, pixel-art Mr. Saturn, and the series' signature yellow-and-red color scheme.
It will be sold only in Japan, and buyers will have to enter a lottery rather than purchase it directly.
This is more than a simple recolor. The yellow strap and case reference the sunflower fields from chapter six of Mother 3, while the red accents echo the Mother logo. Casio’s choice of the DW-5600 is predictable but fitting: it has been one of the brand’s most recognizable G-Shock lines since the 1980s, and it is also one of the cases Casio most often uses for pop-culture collaborations.

Fans will spot the extra touches first. The strap is printed with pixel Mr. Saturn characters, the caseback is engraved with “Potential!”, and the display shows a sunflower field when the backlight is activated. There is also a removable gold-colored protective frame above the glass, a detail not previously seen on collaborative Mother watches.
Under the game-themed exterior, this is still a standard DW-5600 rather than a shelf-only collectible. Casio is also shipping it in a metal storage box decorated with sunflowers.
Key specs include:
- Casio DW-5600 base
- G-Shock shock-resistant construction
- 20 ATM water resistance, or 200 meters
- Mineral glass
- Battery life of up to 5 years
- Weight of 55 grams
- LED backlight with themed graphics
Pricing and availability
Casio has priced the watch at 19,800 yen, or about $122 at the exchange rate cited by the source. Sales will run only through the Hobonichi Mother’s Shop website in Japan, and only via lottery.
Applications open on July 17, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Japan time and close on July 30 at 11:00 a.m.
For anyone in Tokyo, a display unit is already on show at TOBICHI Tokyo through July 29. Casio has not disclosed the production run, but if supply is especially tight, this release could follow the pattern of other popular G-Shock collaborations and quickly move to resale markets above its launch price.
