Apple TV is lining up a rare problem for a streaming service: too many well-reviewed comedies at once. Margo’s Got Money Troubles is already rolling along with strong critic praise, and now Widow’s Bay is arriving to join it on the same weekly release schedule, giving Apple a one-two punch that could make its comedy slate feel a lot more deliberate than its rivals.

That matters because streamers usually throw everything at the wall and hope one title sticks. Apple is doing the opposite here: stacking premium, critic-friendly shows, then spacing them out just enough to keep subscribers checking back every week. It is a pretty neat way to make an Apple TV subscription service feel less like a content dump and more like a destination.

Margo’s Got Money Troubles is already in strong shape

Based on Rufi Thorpe’s novel, Margo’s Got Money Troubles has pulled in a 96% Rotten Tomatoes score from more than 50 critic reviews. Elle Fanning leads a cast that also includes Michelle Pfeiffer, Nick Offerman, and Nicole Kidman, which is a rather good way to announce that a comedy is being taken seriously.

Four episodes are available now, and Apple will keep releasing new ones through May 20. For viewers, that means the show is still early enough to jump into without the usual ”everyone has already moved on” problem.

Widow’s Bay blends comedy and horror on Apple TV

Widow’s Bay premieres this Wednesday, April 29, with two episodes, then continues weekly through June 17. It has a very different tone from Margo’s Got Money Troubles: the series blends comedy with horror, thriller, and character drama, and critics have responded with a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score so far from 15 reviews.

Matthew Rhys stars as the mayor of a small New England town that may be cursed, and the show comes from Katie Dippold, whose comedy pedigree includes Parks and Recreation. That combination sounds risky on paper, which is usually a good sign for a series that wants to stand out in a crowded streaming field.

Apple TV’s next comedy wave is already queued up

Apple is not stopping with those two releases. Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed arrives May 20 as a dark comedy-thriller starring Tatiana Maslany and Jake Johnson, while Ted Lasso is set to return for season 4 this summer, with Hannah Waddingham saying it is coming in August. There is also The Dink, a pickleball comedy with Jake Johnson, Mary Steenburgen, and Ed Harris, slated for July.

  • Margo’s Got Money Troubles: 96% Rotten Tomatoes, weekly releases through May 20
  • Widow’s Bay: premieres April 29, weekly releases through June 17, 100% Rotten Tomatoes
  • Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed: arrives May 20
  • Ted Lasso: season 4 expected in August
  • The Dink: premieres in July

The bigger question is whether Apple can keep this quality streak going without overloading its comedy audience. For now, the answer looks encouraging: if a streamer can make ”two acclaimed comedies at once” feel like a scheduling strategy instead of a coincidence, that is probably a sign it is doing something right.
