Yandex says it has received ISO/IEC 42001 certification for the entire Alice AI neural network family, which the company describes as the first case in Russia where the standard has been granted across a full set of models at once: language, visual, and multimodal.

According to the company, the independent audit covered Alice AI LLM, Alice AI ART, and Alice AI VLM. Those models handle text, image generation, and mixed text-and-image prompts. The review went beyond the models themselves, examining how Yandex manages AI risk, handles data, trains staff, rolls out new versions, tracks errors, and protects user data.

ISO/IEC 42001 is the first international standard for AI management systems. It was approved in 2023, as requirements for AI developers tightened, and has since become a tool large companies use in discussions with both enterprise customers and regulators.

This is not Yandex’s first certification under the standard. In 2025, the company said it became the first in the country to certify its base model YandexGPT under ISO/IEC 42001. It has now extended that process to the full Alice AI family.
