VK is telling VKontakte users to switch from vk.com to vk.ru, as the company wraps up a broader move to Russia’s national domain zone. Users received the notice on July 16, 2026.
According to the message, only the domain name is changing. VK said all of VKontakte’s features, apps, and design will stay the same. The company also said that, “due to technical nuances,” vk.ru is always available and opens and runs faster than vk.com.
Russian outlet RBC, citing VK’s press service, reported that the service is finishing its migration to the Russian domain and will in future support availability only in the .ru zone.
