REDMI 17 4G leak points to a 7,500mAh battery

Xiaomi’s next budget phone may stand out for one reason above all: a 7,500mAh battery. A new leak shared by YtechB appears to reveal most of the REDMI 17 4G, including a redesigned rear camera area, a large chassis, and pricing that could start at about €250.
According to the report, Xiaomi has reworked the camera island with a wider layout and what looks like a light ring replacing one of the familiar circular elements. The camera setup itself does not appear to be more ambitious: like the REDMI 15 4G, the new model is expected to use two rear modules — a 50MP main camera and an auxiliary sensor.
The phone is also said to be physically large even by budget-phone standards, measuring 170.12 × 78.42 × 8.8 mm and weighing about 232 grams. That heft is likely tied directly to the battery. Leaked colors include Deep Blue, Black, Oak Green, and possibly Lotus Purple.
REDMI 17 4G specifications
The leaked spec list includes:
- 6.9-inch LCD
- 1600 × 720 resolution
- 120Hz refresh rate
- MediaTek Helio G91 Ultra
- 4GB or 6GB RAM
- 128GB or 256GB storage
- 50MP main rear camera plus auxiliary sensor
- 8MP front camera
- 7,500mAh battery
- 45W charging
- HyperOS 3.0 based on Android 16
The display choice suggests Xiaomi is prioritizing battery life and price over sharpness. A 6.9-inch panel with HD+ resolution should help with endurance, though image clarity may be less impressive at that size.

Inside, the phone is expected to use the Helio G91 Ultra, described as a close variant of the standard G91 with small changes, including camera ISP tweaks. For comparison, the REDMI 15 4G used the Snapdragon 685. That puts the REDMI 17 4G in familiar budget territory aimed at messaging, video, and lighter games.
Pricing and competition
The most notable upgrade over the previous model may be power: the REDMI 15 4G had a 7,000mAh battery and 33W charging, while the leaked REDMI 17 4G moves to 7,500mAh and 45W. The report frames that as part of a broader trend, with batteries above 6,000mAh increasingly common in low-cost 4G phones.
Expected pricing is about €250 for the 4GB/128GB version and around €280 for the 256GB model. In Europe, that would put it up against the Galaxy A16 4G, realme C-series devices, and several POCO models in the still-crowded sub-€300 segment.
