OnePlus may be preparing a broader shift to 185Hz displays, and that would not stop at its top-end phones. A new leak says the company wants the faster panels to spread across its lineup, which would put the OnePlus 16R and Nord 7 in the same conversation as the upcoming OnePlus 16 and Ace 7.
That would be a bigger move than it sounds. If OnePlus really turns 185Hz into a standard rather than a bragging right, it raises the bar for its own mid-range phones just as rivals keep using display refresh rate as an easy spec to splash on a box. The catch, of course, is that most users will feel the jump far less than the marketing department hopes.
Which OnePlus phones could get 185Hz displays
The leak comes from tipster Smart Pikachu, who says OnePlus is working on a new display strategy that would extend high-refresh-rate panels beyond flagships. Under that plan, successors to several current models could all move from 165Hz to 185Hz.
- OnePlus 16
- Ace 7-series
- OnePlus 16R
- Nord 7
The current 165Hz lineup includes the OnePlus 15, Ace 6, Ace 6T, Ace 6 Ultra, 15T, 15R, and Nord 6. The Ace-branded phones and the 15T are sold only in China, while the 15, 15R, and Nord 6 are available in select markets outside China. That split matters because it shows OnePlus has been willing to use features like refresh rate as part of a tiered regional strategy, not just a universal spec sheet flex.
When the OnePlus 16R and Nord 7 could arrive
The next wave is not expected anytime soon. The 15R was announced in December 2025, while the Nord 6 arrived in April 2026, so their replacements are likely to follow OnePlus’s usual timing in late 2026 and early 2027.
That gives OnePlus time to decide whether 185Hz is a real product advantage or just the next number to chase after 165Hz. The company is clearly betting that spec-sheet escalation still sells, and competitors will probably respond the only way they know how: by finding an even bigger number.
