Samsung is widening its One UI 9 testing beyond the Galaxy S26 beta lineup, with new firmware builds now spotted for the Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy A56, Galaxy S23, and the Galaxy S24 family. That means the company is already pushing the next version of its software onto a much broader set of devices, even though the public beta is still centered on the S26 series.
The early rollout pattern points to a familiar Samsung playbook: flagship phones first, then everything else that can plausibly handle the upgrade without too much drama. It also suggests the company is trying to compress its software lead time before the next wave of foldables arrives.
Firmware builds now in testing
The One UI 9 build for the Galaxy Z Fold7 carries firmware version F966USQUACZF3. The Galaxy A56 and Galaxy S23 are running A566BXXUBDZFB and S911BXXUAGZF9, respectively.
For the Galaxy S24 lineup, Samsung is testing four separate builds:
- Galaxy S24: S921BXXUFEZF7
- Galaxy S24+: S926BXXUFEZF7
- Galaxy S24 Ultra: S928BXXUFEZF7
- Galaxy S24 FE: S721BXXUCEZF7
That is a lot of code moving around for software that has not even reached the broader beta stage.
Which Galaxy phones are closest to One UI 9
Samsung has already been testing One UI 9 for the Galaxy S25, Galaxy A16 5G, Galaxy A17 5G, Galaxy A34, Galaxy A57, and the unannounced Galaxy S26 FE. So while the S26 series is still the only lineup in the public beta, the list of internal candidates is getting long fast.
That matters because Samsung tends to use its newest premium devices as the proving ground before moving the software outward. Apple does something similar with iOS betas, and Xiaomi has been just as aggressive about seeding new builds across flagships before lower-tier models catch up. Samsung is simply being more visible about it this time.
Galaxy Z Flip8 and Fold8 could get One UI 9 first
The first phones expected to ship with One UI 9 are Samsung’s next foldables: the Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. According to the report, they are rumored to arrive on 22 July at an event in London.
Samsung also previously started internal testing of One UI 9 based on Android 17 for the Galaxy S24 FE. So the software pipeline is clearly active across both current and future devices, which is exactly what you want if you’re Samsung and exactly what you fear if you’re waiting for your own phone to get new features before your contract expires.
One UI 9 public beta after the S26 lineup
The open question is simple: which Galaxy phone gets public beta access after the S26 lineup? Samsung has not said. But with internal testing now covering foldables, the S24 family, and several mid-range models, the next wave of One UI 9 releases already looks less like a single launch and more like a staged takeover.
