Russian tech company Octava DM, a longtime partner of the state corporation Rostec, has unveiled four new professional headset models in its GK-3 and GK-4 series. All are officially certified to run smoothly on domestic operating systems RED OS and Astra Linux, with no extra drivers needed. The wireless versions come equipped with Bluetooth 5.2, targeting corporate and government users focused on Russia’s import substitution efforts.

  • Four models available: GK-3 and GK-4 (wired, USB-C) plus GK-3B and GK-4B (wireless, Bluetooth 5.2).
  • Certified compatibility with RED OS and Astra Linux for plug-and-play use in secure environments.
  • Wireless versions offer up to 40 hours (GK-3B) and 33 hours (GK-4B) of call time on a single charge.

GK-3 series headsets designed for call centers and meetings

The GK-3 line targets call centers, business calls, and conference settings. These single-ear headsets feature active background noise suppression, a swiveling microphone boom, and a mute button. The microphone frequency response ranges from 100 Hz to 10,000 Hz, while speakers cover 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The phone impedance is 32 ohms, with microphone sensitivity at -40 ±1 dB. Wired GK-3 models weigh just 101 grams.

The wireless GK-3B uses Bluetooth 5.2 and delivers up to 300 hours on standby and 40 hours of call time, with a full recharge taking two hours.

GK-4 series stereo headsets for multimedia and gaming

The GK-4 series is aimed at uses requiring full stereo sound, such as corporate conferencing, multimedia playback, and gaming. These dual-ear headsets share the same active noise cancellation system, adjustable mic boom, and mute control as the GK-3. Technical specs mirror GK-3, though GK-4 models are heavier at 150 grams.

Like the GK-3B, the wireless GK-4B runs on Bluetooth 5.2 and offers 33 hours of call time and 300 hours of standby per charge cycle, which takes two hours to complete.

Certified support for Astra Linux and RED OS in professional headsets

Certification for RED OS and Astra Linux means these headsets operate without extra setup or drivers on Russia’s domestically developed operating systems – a priority for government agencies and companies adhering to import substitution policies. This simplifies procurement for public sector organizations by eliminating the need for additional approvals.

Besides turning on smoothly on Russian OSes, the headsets are also compatible with Windows and macOS. Wired models connect via USB-C, while wireless units use Bluetooth 5.2.

Lyubov Stalnova, CEO of Octava DM, said, ”We focus on integrating innovative technologies that meet user needs. We plan to continue developing the GK series. Choosing the right headset isn’t just about comfort – sound quality can have a big impact on work, communication, and gaming.”

Octava DM’s focus on compatibility with Astra Linux and RED OS positions its headsets as reliable options for Russia’s secure and regulated IT environments. While major players like Apple and Samsung don’t officially support these domestic Linux distributions, local developers like Octava DM fill this vital niche, especially in government and enterprise sectors demanding both performance and compliance.

Looking ahead, it will be interesting to see if Octava expands these lines with noise-canceling wireless earbuds or integrates more advanced features like adaptive microphones or AI-driven sound tuning, especially as remote work and secure communications continue to grow in importance.
