Nothing has started pushing a new Nothing OS update to most of its phones, and the headline feature is a lock-screen depth effect that finally gives those wallpapers something to do besides sit there looking clever. The package also includes the June 2026 security patch, plus a handful of smaller UI and stability tweaks that should make the phones feel a little more polished.
The rollout covers the Nothing Phone (3), Phone (3a), Phone (3a) Lite, Phone (3a) Pro, Phone (2a), Phone (2a) Plus, CMF Phone 2 Pro, and CMF Phone 1. Nothing Phone (1) is left out because it has reached the end of its update lifecycle, while the Nothing Phone (4a), Phone (4a) Pro, and Phone (2) are expected to follow in a few days. As usual, this is a staged release, so even eligible owners may have to wait before it lands on their device.

What changes with the Nothing OS update
The update lets users turn on the depth effect on the lock screen and tweak clock-face size and alignment, which is the sort of small visual control Android skins love to trumpet. More usefully, the effect now works with Atmosphere wallpapers too, and the status bar will show a dedicated Nothing headphones icon when headphones are connected.
Nothing says it also bundled under-the-hood improvements for launcher animations and overall system stability, along with a security reminder for face unlock. The June 2026 security patch is doing the heavy lifting here on protection, fixing dozens of vulnerabilities found in the previous software. That’s the unglamorous part of Android updates, but it is usually the part that matters most after the novelty wears off.
Android 17 is already next
This is a minor update, not the big event Nothing is preparing for. The company is already working on a major software upgrade based on Android 17, due later this year, and that release will be the real test of how far Nothing can keep its software clean, fast, and distinctive without turning it into clutter with extra steps.
For now, the practical move is simple: check Settings > System > System updates and wait your turn. If Nothing keeps the rollout brisk, this should be a quick quality-of-life bump; if not, the patch notes will age faster than the wallpapers.
