LG has expanded its lifestyle display lineup with the StanbyME 2 Max, a 32-inch movable screen that pushes the series into 4K territory and leans hard into the ”TV that thinks it’s furniture” idea. It costs $1,300, runs on a built-in battery, and is meant to move from room to room without turning setup into a weekend project.
The LG StanbyME 2 Max is a 4K portable TV alternative that adds sharper image quality, a built-in battery, and more flexibility than a conventional living-room set. LG says the screen is rolling out worldwide, with availability varying by region.
The pitch is simple: bigger panel, sharper image, more flexibility. That puts LG in the same orbit as a small but growing category of portable premium displays that try to justify their price not with raw specs alone, but with convenience, design, and the fact that yes, some people really do want a screen on wheels.
StanbyME 2 Max specs and AI features
The StanbyME 2 Max uses a 3840×2160 pixel panel with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support. LG says its Alpha 8 AI Processor Gen3 handles image and audio processing with three main functions: AI Picture Pro for depth and on-screen detail, AI Super Upscaling for textures and clarity, and AI Sound Pro for virtual 11.1.2-channel surround sound.
- Display size: 32 inches
- Resolution: 3840×2160
- Audio and video: Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos
- Processor: Alpha 8 AI Processor Gen3
- Battery life: up to 4.5 hours of continuous video playback
A screen that shifts from TV to digital canvas
LG is also pushing the design angle. The screen is detachable, sits on a wheeled docking stand, and can rotate between landscape and portrait modes, which makes it better suited to vertical video than most living-room TVs that pretend TikTok doesn’t exist. Through the new LG Gallery+ platform, it can also act as a digital canvas with access to over 5,000 pieces of art.
The timing makes sense. Portable, premium displays have become a niche worth chasing, especially as consumers keep splitting their viewing between traditional video, streaming, and social-first content. LG’s bet is that people will pay a premium for a screen that can follow them around the home and still look polished enough to leave in the middle of the room.
Price and availability
At $1,300, the StanbyME 2 Max is not trying to win on value. LG says it is rolling the display out worldwide, although availability will vary by region. The real question is whether buyers see it as a clever alternative to a conventional TV or as a luxury gadget that solves a problem most people have never bothered to notice.
