Musk’s Grokipedia appears to have stopped updating
Elon Musk’s Grokipedia has apparently stopped updating, with no entry changes since April 24 despite listing more than 6 million articles.

Elon Musk’s AI-generated encyclopedia, Grokipedia, appears to have stopped changing. According to an analysis by Lawfare, no entry has been updated since April 24, and the site’s own live-edit page currently says: “No live edits available right now.”
That would leave Grokipedia without a visible update for more than three months. The finding is notable because Musk once described the project as a planned “massive improvement” over Wikipedia.
Grokipedia’s stalled edits
Grokipedia launched in v0.1 in October 2025 with an initial 885,000 articles. It moved to v0.2 in November 2025 and now lists more than 6,000,000 total articles, according to the site’s grokipedia.com/live page.
The encyclopedia still accepts suggestions for new articles and proposed edits to existing pages. But Lawfare examined both popular and unpopular entries and found no evidence that those suggestions were being processed.

“As far as we can tell, no entry has changed in more than three months,” Lawfare said.
In a larger sample of 34,519 pages that had at least one suggested edit, containing 225,496 recommended edits, Lawfare found no accepted or rejected corrections dated within the previous three months. The site’s “Recent changes to…” section also reports that there are no live edits available.
The apparent halt comes as the English Wikipedia has banned generative AI for article writing over accuracy concerns, according to our previous coverage. Grokipedia was positioned as an alternative to Wikipedia, but its lack of visible editorial activity leaves its central selling point — AI-generated, continuously maintained reference material — unsupported by the update record described by Lawfare.
No explanation from xAI
Users on Reddit and X have questioned whether Grokipedia is “dead.” Lawfare also noted that Musk’s last X post mentioning the project was in February.
xAI did not immediately respond to The Verge’s request for comment. The available evidence establishes that the site has continued to display millions of articles and accept suggestions, but it does not explain why no recent edits appear to have been accepted or rejected.
