Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 diving app may cost extra
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2's Mares diving app may charge $2.99 monthly for snorkeling and $7.99 for scuba features.

Samsung’s Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is rated for 10ATM of water resistance and carries an IP69K certification, but its upcoming diving software will split features across free and paid tiers.
The smartwatch made its formal debut alongside the Galaxy Watch 9 and Samsung’s new foldables at Unpacked in London. Samsung has partnered with diving equipment brand Mares to develop an exclusive Diving app for the Ultra 2—and, more broadly, for the Wear OS platform.
The app is expected to arrive later this year. Samsung says it will offer capabilities comparable to a standalone dive computer, but a tip from Dylan H suggests that users will need a Mares subscription to access most of them.
Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 diving modes
The reported tiers are:
- Free timer mode: depth, dive time, and an ascent-rate alarm.
- Snorkel mode: a session timer; individual depth and time data; GPS distance and route tracking; map, compass, stopwatch, temperature, and heart-rate readings.
- Scuba mode: air and Nitrox support from 21% to 50%, Nitrox multigas support for up to three gases, decompression algorithms, depth and dive-time data, decompression information, safety stops, diving alarms, stopwatch, compass, temperature, and heart rate.
Mares subscription pricing
According to the report, Snorkel mode costs $2.99 per month. Scuba mode costs $7.99 per month or $59.99 per year. The free timer mode remains available without a subscription.

Mares already offers its diving app on iOS and Apple’s Ultra smartwatch. That version costs $8.99 per month or $69.99 per year, while a family plan for divers costs $119.99. The pricing difference leaves open the possibility that Mares could adjust its rates before the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 app launches.
