Samsung has started pushing One UI 8.5 to Galaxy S24 owners in Europe, bringing Android 16 and the June security patch in a single package. The Galaxy S24 One UI 8.5 update is rolling out in stages rather than across all regions at once, which is great if you own the right model and mildly annoying if you do not.
The update reportedly carries build numbers S928BXXS6DZF2, S928BOXM6DZF2, and S928BXXS6DZF1. A screenshot of the notification shows Android 16 on board, while the download size comes in at about 484 MB and the security level is dated 5 June 2026.

Europe follows South Korea in the rollout
Europe is getting the firmware about a week after Samsung began distributing it in South Korea, the company’s home market. That sequencing is typical for major Android releases: Samsung tends to test the waters first, then widen the rollout once the early batches behave themselves.
The Galaxy S23 series is also expected to start receiving the update in South Korea during this week, which suggests One UI 8.5 is moving through Samsung’s lineup in a fairly orderly progression. For a company that ships phones by the tens of millions, boring software logistics are usually a good sign.
What comes next for Samsung’s update cycle
Tarun Vats, who has repeatedly tracked Samsung firmware releases accurately, has also pointed to earlier-than-expected timing for One UI 8.0 beta and called out Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S25 release windows in advance. That kind of track record does not guarantee speed, but it does make the current staggered push look like part of a wider, planned cadence rather than a one-off surprise.
The obvious question now is how quickly Samsung will move beyond the Galaxy S24 and S23 families. If the pattern holds, more regions and more models should follow in short order, with the usual caveat that ”short order” in Android update land can still feel like waiting for a bus.
