Face AI has updated its video face-swap tool with improved facial tracking, expression mapping, scene stability, and faster processing. The Los Angeles-based platform announced the update on Friday, targeting creators making videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts without editing skills.
The revised model is designed to preserve head movements and micro-expressions such as blinks and smiles, even as lighting and camera angles change. It also aims to maintain consistent results when faces are partially covered by glasses or hats. Queued videos now process in under a minute.
Face AI is free and requires no signup. The company positions the product as a content-creation tool, although the underlying technology is the same as that used in deceptive deepfakes and impersonation.
That tension is becoming more visible. ByteDance recently added deepfake safeguards to its own AI video tool, blocking face swaps made from real people’s images. China also launched a months-long enforcement campaign against AI-enabled face swapping used in fraud and impersonation earlier this year.
